50 Years Ago Today

Pope Benedict XVI will be resigning today at 2PM EST making him the first pope to resign for almost 600 years.

The following link shares another important event that happened 50 years ago today:

“Behold, he cometh with clouds;…
Now, how is He coming? “With clouds.” What kind of cloud? Clouds of glory. Not one of these thunderheads, rain cloud, but clouds of glory.
You’ll watch what kind of a cloud He was enshrouded in when Peter and them saw His vision on Mount Transfiguration, a cloud overshadowed Him. His raiment shined. He was enshrouded with a cloud, the power of God.”
~ Rev. William Marrion Branham  “The Revelation Of Jesus Christ” (60-1204M)

Should A Christian Go To Church?

In June of 2012 I preached a sermon that asked the question,
Should A Christian Go To Church?‘.

This seems to be an ongoing question that people to continue to find excuses around, but let’s take an honest look at the what the Bible, and the Message say (since we claim those are our Foundation).

#1 It was Jesus’ custom to go to church
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.” ~ St. Luke 4:16

#2 It was Paul’s manner to go to church
Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:
And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures

#3 It was Brother Branham’s custom to go to church
it’s my custom to go to church somewhere on Sunday, if I possibly can.

If you don’t have a church, you must; see, you’ll die, spiritually, you’ll just dwindle away.

Then how can you say you can stay home and be just as good a Christian as you would be at church? You can’t do it.

Don’t stay home. If God is in your heart, you can’t hardly wait for them doors to open out yonder, to get in here to fellowship with your brothers. If you don’t, don’t feel that way, then I tell you, it’s time you got to praying.

And this little deer will get out to itself, away from the herd. That’s the one the wolf works on. And to you, old man or woman, when you separate yourself from believers… People say, “I can stay at home, be just as good a Christian as I can at church.” You can’t.
The Bible said, “Not forsake our assemble ourselves together, and that much more as we see the time coming.”
If you’re a Christian, you long to go where other Christians are, and fellowship with other Christians. So you cannot stay away from church and live the same life. You–you can’t do it, because it’s like, “I–I–I–I’m hungry, but I’ll never go to a table. I just… I’ll never eat. I just–I ain’t going to do it.” See? You’ve got to go and feed on the Word of God, and fellowship one with another.
We need one amother–another more now than we ever did need each other, is now. When you get yourself singled out from the rest of them making yourself just a little different, you don’t want to associate with them because they believe this, and don’t want to associate with that, you’re getting on dangerous ground, right then, keeping away from church. Find the one of your choice, and remain there, and be a Christian brother to all of them. That’s the way to be a real Christian. Then we’ve got fellowship, protection; people love you and pray for you

And you go to church; don’t set at home, go fishing, and hunting, and things like that on Sunday.
You say, “Well, I’m not a legalist.”
Well, you’d better be in that manner for a while, dishonoring the resurrection of Christ. You go to church somewhere.
If I–if I went… If I couldn’t get… If I went to a certain church that I know there’s only one thing them people ever said that I believed–they said they believe Jesus was the Son of God. They said it (I doubt it), but I’d go hear them say that. Maybe you say… That’s this church, maybe the next church would be something like the Baptists. They say, “Yeah, I believe you have to have an experience.” I–I’ll go with them that. Then I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God; I believe you have to have an experience. All right.
Then maybe there’s the Assemblies of God. Now, they believe… See, I–now I can eat about three or four slices of bread with them (See?), ’cause they can believe

And now, remember, go to church somewhere, some place. If… I–I could call a certain denominational church, but I wouldn’t do it, because this church, only thing I know that they teach that I believe is, they say they believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Well, I do that. All their other teaching is… They believe in–in remissions of sins is by water. Now, it isn’t the oneness; they do the same thing, but I’m not talking about them. They believe that–that regeneration by water, and so forth. And I don’t believe that. And they, oh, they believe if anything’s got Divine healing in it is of the devil. And they believe in all… They’re the only–they’re the only thing that there is, and the only thing you have to do is just put your name on that book. And if you ain’t got it there, you’re lost. Now, I don’t believe that. But if there was no other church to go to (I wouldn’t go there critical.), I’d go there with the intention of my presence, and me setting by somebody, that the Christ that was in my heart might influence somebody there. Go among them, but don’t be partakers of their unbelief.

They did ask Brother Branham in Questions and Answers (64-0830M) if tape services sufficient IF there was “no preacher” where they lived“. He said, “That’d be fine”, but we must keep in mind that is the exact same sermon as the quote prior to this paragraph, and that the condition was if there was ‘no preacher” where they lived.

Multiplied hundreds of Message believers who claim that they “just say what he said” completely ignore, and refuse to believe and accept quote after quote, and Scripture after Scripture admonishing them to go to church, and assemble themselves with other believers. They do not have solid quotes or Scriptures to support this line of thinking, but simply state “that’s just what we believe” regardless of the fact that it is anti-Word.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 29:18a: “Where there is no vision the people perish“.

It is hard for me understand a vision of the future for the spiritual well-being of the large number of families who sit isolated in their homes listening to tapes, or streaming their favorite preachers with no worship service, no pastor, and no fellowship with the rest of the Bride. I cannot believe this was the desire of our prophet-messenger, or the perfect will of our Lord Jesus Christ by anything that either of them left for us in the Word.

The Prophecy Of The Popes by Saint Malachy

With the recent announcement that Pope Benedict XVI will resign as pope on February 28th I have seen a lot of ‘buzz’ circulating via social media, text, news, etc of ‘The Prophecy Of The Popes’ by Saint Malachy.

The first publication of these prophecies appeared in 1595. This publication was written by Benedictine Arnold de Wyon, but he attributed them to Saint Malachy (a 12th century archbishop).

Many of these prophecies were vague to say the least, but the current focus is on the fact that the next pope is predicted by Malachy’s prophecy to be the last pope who will see the destruction of Rome:

The following is the English translation of this specific prophecy which was originally written in Latin.

In the extreme persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible judge will judge his people. The End.”

I’m reminded of another prophecy by a vindicated prophet of God. Brother Branham is quoted frequently as referring to a “pope out of America“. This would fit well with the recent predictions by the news media that the next pope will come out of Africa or Latin America, but that is not what he said.

I believe, one of these glorious days, when this united confederation of church goes together, and the new pope is brought out of the United States and put over there according to prophecy, then they’ll form an image like unto the beast. And I tell you, the true Church of God will be drove together.”
~ Rev. William Marrion Branham
54-1219E – “Acts Of The Holy Spirit”

I felt led to write this article to caution against putting too much confidence, or focus on these prophecies of St. Malachy. If the next pope does not come out of the United States you will find yourself out on a limb, and have to decide whether you can admit that you (and St. Malachy) were mistaken, or if you will cling to your own understanding of St. Malachy’s prophecies, and declare that Brother Branham was incorrect instead.

This is the problem we have seen so frequently; people get out on a limb with their assumptions of how a vision or prophecy will be fulfilled, and then have too much pride to admit that it was their own understanding which was incorrect. This leaves them with no option but to submit that Brother Branham or the Bible must have been wrong instead.

I pray that I never have so much pride that I cannot admit when my own understanding is wrong.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
~ Proverbs 3:5-6

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
~ Ephesians 4:14-15

Pope To Resign On 50th Anniversary Of Cloud Picture

Pope Benedict XVI has announced that he will be resigning on February 28th. This is the first time a pope has resigned in 600 years. That date will also mark the 50th anniversary of “The Attraction On The Mountain”.

According to the May 17th, 1963 issue of Life Magazine: February 28th, 1963 was the date that the cloud picture was photographed.

Signs of the times are everywhere…

Excerpts from the May 17th, 1963 issue of Life Magazine:

“…a great cloud appeared at sunset over Flagstaff, Ariz. last Feb. 28 and set off a continuing scientific mystery.”

“…‘the cloud was at least 26 miles high and 30 miles across – a lot higher and bigger… than a cloud should be’. The circle was to high to be made by a jet plane, and so far as Dr. McDonald can determine, there were no rockets, rocket planes or bombs being tested nearby that day.”

No water droplets exist at that height to make a cloud.”

That’s what the attraction is. The predestinated Seed of God who can’t do nothing else but follow It, means more than life to us. Take our lives, but you don’t take That. What is the attraction? God, as usual, fulfilling His Word.”

Black History Month: Still Looking for millions to be killed?

63-0628M O.LORD.JUST.ONCE.MORE I wish I could talk to Martin Luther King. That man, being a Christian, don’t know he is leading his people right into a death trap, where there is going to be millions of them killed. See? He is wrong.

63-0721 HE.CARES.DO.YOU.CARE_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-12 N-4 SUNDAY_ « 16 † It’s inspired of the wrong thing, you see, see, they, them people. And that’s the reason I say that, not that there is any–any prophecy concerning it. I have nothing on it from the Lord. And be you sure now, if I say anything from the Lord like that, to tell you, it’s always… I’m speaking now. But when He speaks, I say “It’s not me, it’s THUS SAITH THE LORD.” And I can’t say it until He tells me. I could be altogether wrong in my thought about Martin Luther King. I don’t know, I can’t say. That’s just my opinion.

63-0707M THE.INDICTMENT_ My, goodness! If the people ain’t got heart enough to associate with a man because of his color, they’re condemned and dead, anyhow. The nation gives them right. Don’t fight against it. Don’t. What if somebody said all the Irish or somebody, all the German, or somebody else, had to disassociate? That would never bother Christians. They would move right on. And that man’s a Christian.

65-0815 AND.KNOWETH.IT.NOT_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-2 N-10 SUNDAY_ Look at nineteen people being killed, racial. Didn’t I tell you, here not long ago, that that Martin Luther King would lead his people to a massacre? How many remembers that? [Congregation says, “Amen.”–Ed.] It isn’t them colored people; it’s them leaders stirring them up. It isn’t integration, segregations, and whatever they want to call it; it’s the devil. That’s right. Not only to the white, colored; this is all of them. It’s the devil.

  • Nathan Bryant I wonder how many have been killed due to race riots, racial animosity, etc since then? He never said it would be a million people at one time. Just because something isn’t fulfilled the way we assume it will be doesn’t mean it isn’t / won’t be fulfilled.

Many probably thought Elijah’s prophecy of Ahab was false when dogs didn’t come lick his blood on Mt. Ramoth-Gilead, but one little armor-bearer saw the vision fulfilled when he took the king’s chariot back to wash the blood out in the pool of Samaria.

  • Trevor Emond It can also be that it wasn’t a prophecy as he told us. This was his opinion and he told us such. His point was the inspiration behind it was dangerous and that if it continued, it very well could start a bloody revolution.

Bro Humes’ mother was very tore up about what Bro Branham had said about it. She saw him in a grocery store one time and asked him about it, and Bro Branham replied that was no different than any minister offering his opinion on it. Bro Humes told me of this himself.

When I came across the quote from He Cares Do You Care, I felt there was truth to that. He then goes on to relate the 19 deaths in Birmingham as part of it.

  • Trevor Emond So we find a balance is good. People shouldn’t say, “oh, guess he missed that one”, yet we understand what he was talking about.
  • Nathan Bryant It is probably impossible to tally it world-wide since then, and it wasn’t a ‘prophecy’, but I don’t think we should just throw it aside and say ‘oh well’ because it didn’t have THUS SAITH THE LORD behind it. It probably has been or is being fulfilled gradually. God has performed many things that his prophets have spoke through the ages that weren’t THUS SAITH.
  • Trevor Emond Going to bitterly disagree and stop fellowshipping with you now.
  • Nathan Bryant Fine! Be that way! I’ll just draw the circle bigger and draw you back in!
  • Nathan Bryant Headline: “Contention between 2MM so great they were able to reach twice as many people!”

I Have A Dream

“Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
(Excerpt from the “I Have A Dream” speech)

He may not have realized the Spiritual application, but I believe we can say, ‘Amen’.

“But since the opening of those Seven Seals, of them Angels just behind the mountain yonder, This has become a new Book. It’s the things that’s been hid, is beings revealed as God promised in Revelation 10, He would do it. And we are the privileged people that God has chosen, of the earth, that we might see and understand these things.”

Take It In Context

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” ~ St John 3:16

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” ~ I John 2:15

The carnal, intellectual mind will constantly look for discrepancies in the Bible and the Message, but once you recognize the Revealed Word: Genesis to Revelation, and 47′-65′ comes into focus.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” ~ St. John 4:24

All three verses were penned by the same author (St. John), and inspired by the same Author (God), but until the Spirit quickens the Word it is dead letter. The Spirit quickens the Word, and It becomes flesh.
