The Last Independence Day

Today is Independence Day. A day we celebrate the freedom our country achieved from Britain. A day when our forefathers stood on their own two feet and declared that we were free to pursue life, liberty and happiness. This day has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love the spirit of camaraderie that we feel together as a nation.

I wonder today however, if it will be the last I am able to celebrate.

Oh don’t feel I am being melodramatic. It is quite a real thought. As I perhaps watch fireworks tonight and celebrate our independence and freedom, will it be the last time I am able to truly do so?

Will this Independence Day be the last time that ministers, who follow the true Word of God and hold unwaveringly to it’s principles, are truly free? In a nation that has essentially declared that if you are a photographer and are unwilling to take pictures of a wedding between two men or two women you can no longer be a photographer. If you are a florist and will not celebrate in a union between a same-sex couple you can no longer be a florist. If you are a baker and will not bake a cake and put a two man cake topper on it, you can no longer be a baker. How can we anticipate freedom then for the ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ who will not perform such unions at all? Not because of hatred, rather the opposite, it is because of our love for mankind that requires us to cry out against the things that are destroying not only their flesh, but their souls!

How long will it be until those who proclaim we should be able to “love as freely as we wish” will in a turn of hypocrisy declare our love to be invalid? I wonder if that is the “religiosity” we will be attacked from. For the early believers, they were attacked initially by the Jews, who feared that their power and standing and the balance with Rome would be shaken. Will it be this new campaign of “freedom” that will actually end freedom for the true believers? We know the day will come when men will persecute us thinking they are doing God a service. If they persecute the true believer they obviously don’t know God. So in a country where people have begun to define “God” in any way they wish, ultimately saying He is all loving and would not punish the evil doer, it is very natural (but hypocritical) that we will be persecuted in the service of this God.
It may be difficult to watch the fireworks tonight with the usual zest, excitement, and love for my country that I have always felt in the past.
God Bless America! But America has already rejected that blessing.
God give us courage and strength to face the troubled times that have been prophesied are ahead.

Florida Trip Report, June 2015

It’s been two and a half years since my last Evangelistic Trip looping through Florida.  Oh, I’ve been down to Florida in and out on a plane, but this is the second driving tour through Florida and extending into South Carolina on the way home!

Here’s the quick recap

  • Over 2324 miles
  • 8 Services
  • 6 churches
  • Lots of believers
  • A few games of “Ticket to Ride” with the family and with believers! (one of my favorite games)
  • A few games of Wordsters with Bro Jack’s family!

We started the trip in Sarasota where I preached on “Relationship or Nicolaitanism” and had a very good service. The evening service I spoke on “Lucifer’s Style of Worship” and without prompting there were quite a few that had come to the altar. We had fine fellowship with the believers at House of Fellowship and spent the next couple of days touring the area and fellowshipping in the evenings with the saints.

Bro Trevor and Bro Carl Herms

Bro Trevor and Bro Carl Herms

Wednesday night I was blessed to be able to preach for Bro Carl Herms in Tampa. It was nice of him to extend an invitation to me without ever meeting me, solely on the recommendation of Bro Danny.  I preached “Wilt thou be made whole” and as normally happens with that sermon, many hearts were spoken to, and many came up for prayer.

Thursday we went over to Okeechobee to Bible Truth Tabernacle and Bro Smiley. We always enjoy being with the saints there, and even though the power flickered on and off, and I knocked down and caught in my hand the crown of thorns, we sure had a good service.  I again spoke on “Relationship or Nicolaitanism”.  We had some good fellowship after service with Bro Justin Smiley, a young minister of the church.

Friday and Saturday we spent some time with my good friend Bro Jack Duff. Also on Saturday we had a ministers meeting with the local ministers and quite the discussion on the baptism of the Holy Ghost, how it relates to the new birth, and how it relates to the Stature of a Perfect man.

Saturday evening was the youth service and I spoke on “The Arm of the Lord”. I took the tauntings of the Rabshekah to Hezekiah and modernized them a bit as the tauntings of the devil at the young people. I believe it spoke to many hearts.

Sunday morning I again spoke on “Relationship or Nicolaitanism” at Bro Jack’s church, and Sunday evening we were in service at the Haitian church in Boynton Beach on the same topic.  I told some of the believers who were driving around with us for the fellowship the reason I’m preaching it so many times is not because I’m a lazy preacher, but because I feel the topic is so relevant and needful in our churches today.

Bro Trevor and Bro Jason Watkins

Bro Trevor and Bro Jason Watkins

On Monday we drove up to Beaufort, SC to be at another church for the first time.  Bro Jason Watkins had invited me to come by the last time we had met while in a service in Ohio. We enjoyed the fellowship and for the service on Wednesday evening I preached on “Wilt thou be made whole”. I know many hearts were touched by the Spirit of God.

We really could feel the prayers of the believers with us. We never encountered one problem the entire trip.

We had a nice family time while we were there as well,as we celebrated my son Zion’s 14th birthday.

We’re thankful to be back home, and my faithful wife is busy with the laundry and all kinds of household things.  I’ve been weeding the garden as the rains must have been incredible while we were away.  Shortly, we’re headed over to Bro Nathan’s services that are going on this weekend!

Keep me in prayer as I begin to contemplate the leading of the Lord for a few overseas trips that I have open doors for.

God Bless everyone!

Bro Trevor

Fitting Friday, Shadowed Saturday.

GEFire

GE Fire, 4/3/2015

It’s 3 o’clock here in Southern Indiana. Today it is dark and rainy. Multiple storms have been passing through the area. A large company in Louisville had a major fire at a warehouse. Streets are flooding all around. My drive to work felt like I was going through a war zone or a major catastrophe. Being around 1 mile from the warehouse fire, there was burnt plastic garbage strewn across the parking lot of the office complex from the fire. There was a definite ominous feel to the day.

Flooding

Flooding

Fitting isn’t it? On this day in what was likely A.D. 30, our Lord Jesus was crucified. The world rejected it’s Savior, not only rejected but condemned to die a horrible death.

I have been thinking for the last couple of days on what it must have been like on that day for the disciples and the few who still followed Jesus. How must have they felt? What must it have been like when the earthquake happened, the inner veil in the temple was rent, and the sky darkened because the sun hid it’s face in a total eclipse? It was enough to make a roman soldier cry out “Surely this man was the Son of God”. It must have been much more ominous than my drive to work today!

As I’ve considered how the disciples must have felt, I remembered, not only did they see Jesus crucified on Friday, but NOTHING happened on Saturday for them. We focus on Jesus dying on Good Friday and the resurrection on Sunday. What about Saturday? Because we can watch movies like “Jesus of Nazareth” or “The Gospel of John” in 3 hours time, we can “experience” Jesus’ death and resurrection very quickly. We grieve as we see him depicted on the cross, but it’s OK because in the next few scenes He will be risen! Hallelujah!

And we forget what it must have been like for the disciple on Saturday. All day, all night, nothing but the memories, nothing but the fear, nothing but doubts and frustrations. Their ideas, their plans, their expectations – all dashed to pieces. In one week time from “Triumphal Entry” to Ignominious death. How do they cope? What are their thoughts?

Fitting also we have a blood moon eclipse happening on Saturday morning this year. Fitting because on Saturday morning in A.D. 30 – Jesus was gone. The life giving rays of the Sun on the moon will be shadowed by the world.

Today has been so fitting of a day for remembering the price Jesus paid. Yet, I sit in a comfortable office, surrounded by small catastrophe’s in a fallen world removes me quite a bit from that day in A.D. 30. Tomorrow, I’m going to try to watch some of the eclipse, and endeavor to spend the day thinking about what it must have been like in the Shadow of Saturday.

Arguments = No Revival

You get around where there’s arguments; you get into that type of atmosphere. If there’s something in the church, someone who’s disobedient, and very ugly acting in the church and causing trouble, you’ll never be able to have a revival as long as that kind of an atmosphere is around. And so, you have to have everybody…
If you’ll notice when the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost, they were all in one place and in one accord (Is that right?) and waiting for a promise. And when we get like that, Brother Boze, the revival will be here then. That–that’s right.
(53-1212 ~ WMB)

Let’s get any arguments out of the way. I’d rather have revival!

Out of the Abundance of the Heart

A friend of mine asked me the other day “What does the Bible say about cursing”. I assumed this meant profanity and not the kind of cursing that Balak wanted Balaam to do on the children of Israel.

I’d like to share a few scriptures that I thought were appropriate to the subject that I sent my friend. Perhaps others will be blessed by this.

Let’s begin with taking the name of the Lord in vain. This is not something the Lord is pleased with, yet many people view this as “not as bad” as some of the major curse words today. But look at the following passages:

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (Exo 20:7)
And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. (Lev 19:12)

I think the passage in Leviticus really brought it home for me. “Profane the name of thy God”. I can’t imagine this! How could we take the name of the Holy One and profane it. This really ought to be unthinkable to any of us! To mix the unholy with the holy!

Now, many people would look at this topic and say “this word is good, this word is bad, this word is ok”. Even further we have words that we say “that’s just a mild form of this or that word.” I don’t want to get into all that with this post. I really want to look at the principle of cursing itself.

Consider the Scriptures:

But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. ( II Tim 2:16)

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Eph 4:29)

So how about those? Is your “babblings” profane or vain? Is your communication corrupted? These things will increase into more ungodliness! They already ARE ungodly…and will cause MORE!

Yet Paul finishes in Ephesians by saying “but that which is good to the use of edifying”. I think that’s the main point here. Ultimately Christians should be full of grace. Why would Christians, who are supposed to be reborn with the Spirit of Christ, be speaking anything that is not edifying and filled with grace? Why would it be negative? Why wouldn’t it be BLESSING instead of cursing?

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)

You see, it’s more than whether the actual words we are speaking are “right” or “wrong” but our communications are an indicator of what’s inside.

Just as Jesus once said:

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. (Matt 12:34)

And there we have it. Are you speaking cursings, negative thoughts, and words that refer to vile things? If so, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”. Are you speaking blessings, positive words, and those things that are filled with praise and virture? Well then, “out of the abundance of the heart…”

God Bless,

Bro Trevor

Signs and wonders still follow.

Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. (Luke 7:22,23)

This winter has been especially cold, snowy, and icy for us in the Jeffersonville area.  With that we’ve had a difficult time keeping the sidewalks clean enough at the Tabernacle for it to be safe to have church without worrying about believers slipping and falling.

The brother that takes care of the maintenance at the church was out one Saturday trying to clean off some ice so we could have service the next day and as he was shoveling he ended up slipping and falling.

The doctors found a tear in his rotator cuff.  He was unable to lift his arm up, or even bend his elbow without searing pain.  It was sad to see him keeping rhythm with his left hand instead of his right as he led songs the past couple of services.  Well, Wednesday night, he was keeping the rhythm with his right arm, the one with the tear in the shoulder.  Bro Collins testified about it, saying that he couldn’t even lift his arm, but God had healed our brother and he could lift his arms above his head with no pain!  God also healed the problem he was having in his foot!

Truly God is merciful and good to us.  He didn’t promise us divine health, but He promised us divine healing.  Signs and wonders are STILL following the Message of the Hour.

Of course, you all heard about the brother who couldn’t speak for over 2 years, prayed the closing prayer in service (yes audibly!) about a year ago, right?

Acquire the Fire, West Palm Beach, FL meetings

I’ve just returned from a wonderful trip to West Palm Beach, Fl.  Bro Jack Duff, pastor of Spirit and Truth Tabernacle hosted the annual “Acquire the Fire” youth meetings.

Bro Jack invited me to be one of the speakers for the meetings and so I gladly spoke for two of the services.

Bro Joe Underwood opened the meetings with a topic of “Flames of Holy Fire” and I was on my feet as I heard him declaring that if your fire wasn’t lit by the Message of the Hour then it never really got lit.  I was so encouraged to be part of a group of ministers “lifting the hands of Moses” as it were. Bro Joe really inspired the young people to keep putting logs on the fire to keep it burning hot.  Things like their daily walk with the Lord, listening to tapes in their own free time, and coming to church help to keep things burning hot.  He used the following scripture:

And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.  ~ LEVITICUS 9:24

The next morning (Saturday) I spoke on a topic of “Lucifer’s Style of Worship“.  I used the following quote:

“Sin in its initial form is to reject the revealed Word of God, what God–or will of God. When God has revealed something as His will, and to reject that is to blaspheme, or to reject God.”

We talked about how Lucifer rejected the revealed Word/Will of God and there was no redemption.  I showed how we DO have redemption, but not if we knowingly reject the Word/Will of God.

That evening Bro Andrew Glover preached a good sermon on “He Cares”.  I loved how he took the story of the mother opossum and the little fishy to illustrate that if God cares for those little animals, He cares for you.  He said the devil lies to young people all the time by telling them, “no one cares”.  The young people were greatly encouraged and the Spirit of the Lord was indeed present.  Many were prayed for and the Scripture Bro Joe opened Friday with became prophetic of the meetings and God was consuming the altar of the young people and many could not help but fall on their faces before God.  I personally have not felt the power of God so strongly upon me as I’ve prayed for one young sister in particular as I have since being at Still Waters camp.

Sunday morning I delivered part 2 of what I was speaking on Saturday morning.  I took the topic of “Mixing“.  AfbleachandAmmoniater recapping part 1 I began to show what the Bible talks about on the doctrine of Balaam.  In a visual illustration, I typed ammonia to Moab and I typed Bleach to the Children of God.  I had both in front of the audience on a table with a little jar for mixing the two.  The brother in the front row was certainly concerned!!  I did not mix the two and no one in the audience wanted me to either!  I used this type to show how dangerous it is when we try to mix doctrines, culture, creeds, music, etc into the Word of God for our day.

Remember, it was a unpardonable sin, three times in the Bible, for any persons to add one word of their own interpretation to God’s Word after It had been vindicated the Truth.

In the garden of Eden, right, in the garden of Eden, one word added caused death.

When Balaam added the word, that, “We’re all the same,” they, God never did forgive Israel that. Every one of them perished in the wilderness, except the three that God brought out.

Sunday evening Bro Jack gave Bro Kenny Capps some time to give testimony.  Bro Capps spoke about his experiences with Bro Branham and gave witness to the things he had personally seen and heard.  He exhorted the people that even the little things the prophet said would come to pass.

Bro Andrew finished up the services on Sunday evening with “It’s going to take a stronger wind than this”.  He encouraged the young people that what they were going through wasn’t strong enough to defeat them as long as Jesus was in the ship to speak “Peace be Still”

There was much worship of the Creator during the meetings, along with plenty of fun songs the young people could jump and dance (appropriately) to!  A fun time and a blessed time to give honor to the King!  I enjoyed the services immensely and was able to play saxophone during the singing.

All in all the meetings were wonderful.  I pray that those who were touched, were touched in a lasting and impactful way.  I’m looking forward also to the day where we can sing and worship and NOT get worn out so bad!!  Even so, Come Lord Jesus!

Entanglement

Bro Nathan posted a fine balanced post on the topic of Facebook recently.  I thought about merely adding a comment, but then I decided more people would see my thoughts on it this way.

II TIMOTHY 2:3,4
3   Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4  No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Does Facebook entagle you in the “affairs of this life”, or is it merely a communication tool for you?

Are you wasting many hours playing the games and scrolling through pictures of people you hardly know?

I’ll agree that it has it’s uses, but I will definitely say that there are MANY trappings that we just don’t need.

Today VGR put out a post of a testimony that a young person that struggled with too many pulls of the world.  I thought some of the person’s testimony where striking:

“…all that time I considered myself to be a Christian but somehow I had become a part of this world.

Now, this believer was struggling with many things online, streaming TV shows, not just Facebook.  Yet I ask you to consider what YOU have become entangled in online and how “a part” of this world you have become all the while considering yourself to be just fine as a Christian. The devil would like to pull us down my friends; all the while trying to keep us thinking we’re “just fine”.

So I ask, are you entangled?

As for myself, I decided I was entangled too much and that I would have more focus and energy towards things I need to be doing and improving in my life than I would with it.

Please understand, I do not disagree with my good friend Bro Nathan.  I believe it CAN and is used for good.  It’s a great communication tool.  I would merely ask however if it is entangling you without you realizing it?

Be careful, check up, stay awake.  Don’t be entangled with the affairs of this world.

God Bless,

Bro Trevor

Black History Month: Still Looking for millions to be killed?

63-0628M O.LORD.JUST.ONCE.MORE I wish I could talk to Martin Luther King. That man, being a Christian, don’t know he is leading his people right into a death trap, where there is going to be millions of them killed. See? He is wrong.

63-0721 HE.CARES.DO.YOU.CARE_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-12 N-4 SUNDAY_ « 16 † It’s inspired of the wrong thing, you see, see, they, them people. And that’s the reason I say that, not that there is any–any prophecy concerning it. I have nothing on it from the Lord. And be you sure now, if I say anything from the Lord like that, to tell you, it’s always… I’m speaking now. But when He speaks, I say “It’s not me, it’s THUS SAITH THE LORD.” And I can’t say it until He tells me. I could be altogether wrong in my thought about Martin Luther King. I don’t know, I can’t say. That’s just my opinion.

63-0707M THE.INDICTMENT_ My, goodness! If the people ain’t got heart enough to associate with a man because of his color, they’re condemned and dead, anyhow. The nation gives them right. Don’t fight against it. Don’t. What if somebody said all the Irish or somebody, all the German, or somebody else, had to disassociate? That would never bother Christians. They would move right on. And that man’s a Christian.

65-0815 AND.KNOWETH.IT.NOT_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-2 N-10 SUNDAY_ Look at nineteen people being killed, racial. Didn’t I tell you, here not long ago, that that Martin Luther King would lead his people to a massacre? How many remembers that? [Congregation says, “Amen.”–Ed.] It isn’t them colored people; it’s them leaders stirring them up. It isn’t integration, segregations, and whatever they want to call it; it’s the devil. That’s right. Not only to the white, colored; this is all of them. It’s the devil.

  • Nathan Bryant I wonder how many have been killed due to race riots, racial animosity, etc since then? He never said it would be a million people at one time. Just because something isn’t fulfilled the way we assume it will be doesn’t mean it isn’t / won’t be fulfilled.

Many probably thought Elijah’s prophecy of Ahab was false when dogs didn’t come lick his blood on Mt. Ramoth-Gilead, but one little armor-bearer saw the vision fulfilled when he took the king’s chariot back to wash the blood out in the pool of Samaria.

  • Trevor Emond It can also be that it wasn’t a prophecy as he told us. This was his opinion and he told us such. His point was the inspiration behind it was dangerous and that if it continued, it very well could start a bloody revolution.

Bro Humes’ mother was very tore up about what Bro Branham had said about it. She saw him in a grocery store one time and asked him about it, and Bro Branham replied that was no different than any minister offering his opinion on it. Bro Humes told me of this himself.

When I came across the quote from He Cares Do You Care, I felt there was truth to that. He then goes on to relate the 19 deaths in Birmingham as part of it.

  • Trevor Emond So we find a balance is good. People shouldn’t say, “oh, guess he missed that one”, yet we understand what he was talking about.
  • Nathan Bryant It is probably impossible to tally it world-wide since then, and it wasn’t a ‘prophecy’, but I don’t think we should just throw it aside and say ‘oh well’ because it didn’t have THUS SAITH THE LORD behind it. It probably has been or is being fulfilled gradually. God has performed many things that his prophets have spoke through the ages that weren’t THUS SAITH.
  • Trevor Emond Going to bitterly disagree and stop fellowshipping with you now.
  • Nathan Bryant Fine! Be that way! I’ll just draw the circle bigger and draw you back in!
  • Nathan Bryant Headline: “Contention between 2MM so great they were able to reach twice as many people!”

Will He hear YOUR prayer?

Will He hear YOUR prayer?

I CORINTHIANS 11:5
But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

I CORINTHIANS 11:13
Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

Bro Branham has many times referred us to the above passages.  Many times stating things such as “The Bible says it’s a common, sinful thing for a woman pray with her hair cut short. That’s right.”

None of us deny the truth of this. Many of us men hear that and start judging some sisters that trim or cut their hair in our heart.

I read a Scripture the other day that I felt was thought provoking and could apply to us men.

EZEKIEL 14:3,4
»     3     †     Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
»     4     †     Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

Here God is telling Ezekiel that he will not be enquired of by men that have idols in their hearts.  Remember an idol isn’t just a fat little man molded out of gold or silver.  An idol is anything we put before God.  Not just in our deeds, but in our hearts.

Ask yourself if there are there things that you love more than God?  What is your desire when you wake up in the morning?  What are your hopes, aims, and dreams consisting of? Do they consist of worldly things or are they consisting of a desire to be closer to Him?  To serve and adore Him more?

If you have desires that you are thinking on, and offer Him a really quick prayer, I wonder if He will be enquired of by you at all.  Worse yet, He may answer you according to the multitude of your idols.

I don’t like the sound of that. Make sure your prayers are effectual – get rid of the idols.
