The times of refreshing.

ACTS 3:19
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Do you want to be refreshed in your life? You know, not a care in the world, happy, joyous, and full of life? This scripture I believe gives us the answer. The times of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord.

Being in His presence; this can happen anywhere. It’s not a geographical location, it’s more a matter of heart. It’s a matter of recognizing Him. Most times we find this in church, causing many to believe that’s the only time you can be in His presence and be refreshed. The reason we find that we are in His presence in church, is because we are there for that purpose, it’s our desire to seek out His presence while we are there. This should always be our desire. All the time. Everywhere. He is always available, and longs to fellowship with His children just as He did with Adam and Eve. Walking in the cool of the day in the garden, talking with his children.

There is a couple of other points in this passage however. Actually, they both run hand in hand. Two things that Peter is speaking to the people about.

1) Repent ye therefore
2) Be converted

How can you be refreshed in the presence of Jesus if your life is full of sin? How can He refresh you if you do not believe in Him? Clearly this would be impossible. Peter is telling us, “get these 2 things done…so that you can be refreshed in His presence!”

Jesus said “Lo, I am with you alway” (Matt 28:20). How then are we not always refreshed in His presence. It is either the fact that we do not recognize the reality that Jesus is with us alway, or that we have sin in our lives.

How aptly Peter said, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” God wants for us to have the best of life, for us to be as happy as we can be. I believe this is the way to happiness. Being refreshed in His presence.

God Bless,
